Bokaro: The first Dishom Guru Shibu Soren Memorial Trophy Women’s National Taekwondo Championship 2025 was inaugurated with grandeur at GGPS, Bokaro Steel City, blending high-energy cultural performances with a strong sporting spirit.
The championship was formally opened with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Jharkhand’s Water Supply and Sanitation, and Excise and Prohibition Minister Yogendra Prasad, Tundi MLA and Jharkhand Taekwondo Association President Mathura Prasad Mahto, Chandankiyari MLA Umakant Rajak, Bokaro Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha, Taekwondo Federation of India President Firoz Ahmed, and Jharkhand Taekwondo Association General Secretary Sanjay Sharma, along with other dignitaries.
Around 500 women athletes from 17 states are competing in the national championship across multiple age and weight categories. The event offers a major platform for young sportspersons to demonstrate technical skill, discipline and competitive excellence at the national level.
Organisers said the championship not only honours the legacy of Dishom Guru Shibu Soren but also reflects Jharkhand’s growing footprint in promoting women’s sports and martial arts at the national stage.
