
Bokaro: In a major breakthrough against property crime, Bokaro Police have busted an organised theft gang and arrested seven of its members, cracking over three dozen theft cases across the district.
Superintendent of Police Harvinder Singh said the arrests were made during a focused crime-control drive. The accused have been identified as Rohit Mehra, a resident of LH More, B S City, Barka Bansfor (Sector 1 C), Roshan Kumar (Jhopri Colony, Marafari, B S City), Mahesh Prasad Soni (Telidih More, Chas), Shashi Kumar Verma (Siwan, Bihar), Neeraj Kumar Nayak (Gomia) and Sanjay Kumar (IEL Colony, Bokaro).
Police recovered gold jewellery worth more than ₹10 lakh, silver articles valued at over ₹9 lakh, ₹52,000 in cash, burglary tools and a motorcycle from the gang’s possession.
According to the SP, the arrested men are repeat offenders with cases registered at multiple police stations in the district. Further investigation is underway to trace their wider criminal network and recover additional stolen property.
