Bokaro: The Mithila Mahila Samiti, a women’s wing of the Mithila Sanskritik Parishad, organised a vibrant community picnic at City Park, turning the green public space into a hub of cultural warmth, social bonding and recreation.
The day-long programme was held under the leadership of Samiti President Poonam Mishra and Secretary Abha Jha, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of members drawn from different parts of the city. The picnic provided an informal yet meaningful platform for women to reconnect, exchange ideas and strengthen community ties beyond routine organisational meetings.
The event featured a range of activities including free-flowing interactions among members of all age groups. Laughter and cultural camaraderie marked the gathering as participants shared personal experiences and discussed social and cultural issues relevant to the Mithila community.
A collective meal prepared and shared by the members added to the spirit of togetherness, reinforcing the Samiti’s emphasis on unity, cooperation and mutual respect.
Addressing the gathering, President Poonam Mishra said such programmes play an important role in nurturing cultural identity while also promoting mental well-being and social harmony among women. She also announced that the annual day celebration of the Mithila Mahila Samiti will be held on January 10, 2026, and urged members to actively participate in the preparations to make the event meaningful and inclusive.
Secretary Abha Jha echoed the sentiment, noting that the picnic reflected the Samiti’s broader objective of empowering women through cultural engagement, solidarity and collective participation.
Members described the picnic as refreshing and memorable, expressing hope that similar community-driven initiatives would continue in the future to strengthen cultural roots and social bonds in Bokaro.
