Kolkata/Howrah: Jindal (India) Limited, part of the BC Jindal Group and a major downstream steel products manufacturer, has commissioned a state-of-the-art advanced metal coating line at its Ranihati manufacturing complex in Howrah district, West Bengal, following an investment of ₹1,100 crore.
The company said the first coated product was rolled out this week, marking a key milestone in its capacity expansion and modernization drive. The new facility is expected to raise production of value-added coated steel by about 60 per cent to nearly 0.3 million metric tonnes and support an anticipated 20 per cent revenue growth in FY26 through higher volumes and a stronger product mix.
Supplied by SMS Esmech, the line features advanced automation, precise coating control and enhanced process stability. It can produce coated steel in thicknesses ranging from 0.3 mm to 2.0 mm and widths between 750 mm and 1,350 mm, catering to sectors such as infrastructure, construction, appliances, solar mounting structures, engineered buildings and premium roofing.
Promoter Shyam Sunder Jindal said the commissioning reflects the group’s long-term strategy to strengthen its technology-driven downstream steel platform, enhance product quality and align growth with India’s evolving infrastructure and manufacturing demand.
The development forms part of a broader ₹1,500-crore investment announced in FY25 to expand downstream steel capacity in West Bengal. The new coating capability will boost production of galvanised iron and Galvalume products, enabling the company to serve fast-growing infrastructure, white goods and high-exposure industrial applications that require improved corrosion resistance and consistent quality.
Jindal (India) said the expansion underscores its focus on innovation, advanced manufacturing and deeper market penetration, with plans to sustain double-digit growth in the coming years.
