Fake Hospital, Fake Patients: Gurugram Police Bust Major Insurance Fraud Racket

Gurugram: In a major breakthrough, Gurugram Police have uncovered a sophisticated insurance fraud racket allegedly being run from Galaxy One Hospital in New Palam Vihar, where fake patients were shown admitted to siphon off crores of rupees from insurance companies.

Acting on a complaint from the Chief Minister’s flying squad, police teams carried out a search operation at the hospital in Nihal Colony and arrested three employees linked to the scam.

Probe Uncovers Large-Scale Manipulation

According to officials, the hospital was allegedly creating bogus IPD (in-patient) admissions and fabricating medical documents to submit fraudulent insurance claims.

ACP (West) Abhilaksh Joshi said investigators recovered nearly 60 suspicious claim files connected to about 25 insurance companies, pointing to an organised and widespread fraud network.

Suspicion First Raised in 2025

The case dates back to May 2025, when the CM flying squad flagged suspicious activities at the facility. During the probe, authorities found that a doctor associated with the hospital had been using the title MBBS/MDMA without possessing a valid MD qualification.

Following preliminary findings, an FIR was registered at Bajghera police station on February 14, 2026, under relevant sections.

Fake Records, Real Money

Investigators say the racket operated through a carefully planned method:

  • Fake IPD admissions were entered in hospital registers
  • Forged medical records and lab reports were prepared
  • Fabricated treatment and pharmacy bills were generated
  • Insurance claims were filed using these documents
  • The payout was allegedly shared among hospital staff and listed beneficiaries

Police believe the fraud amount could run into crores given the scale of the operation.

Three Arrested, Documents Seized

During the crackdown, police arrested three hospital staffers — Sapna, Varsha and Gaurav. A large quantity of incriminating material was seized, including hospital stamps, computers, fake bill books and forged medical records.

Wider Network Under Scanner

Police say the investigation is ongoing and more suspects may be involved. Efforts are underway to identify other conspirators and trace the full financial trail of the alleged fraud.

Officials have not ruled out further arrests as the probe deepens.
