The incident took place in the 11th over of New Zealand’s innings when Arshdeep, after collecting the ball in his follow-through, threw it back aggressively and it struck New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell on the pads.
Apart from the fine, one demerit point has been added to Arshdeep’s disciplinary record. It is his first offence in the past 24 months.

Arshdeep accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Andy Pycroft, which meant no formal hearing was required.
The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Richard Illingworth and Alex Wharf, along with third umpire Allahuddien Paleker and fourth umpire Adrian Holdstock.
Under ICC rules, Level 1 offences can attract penalties ranging from an official reprimand to 50 percent of a player’s match fee, along with one or two demerit points.
