SBU Steps onto Global Stage: AI, Innovation, and International Exposure at AIT Bangkok

 

Sarala Birla University Signs MoU with AIT Bangkok, Launches Global Immersion Tour

 

Ranchi:  In a remarkable leap for Jharkhand’s academic landscape, a 21-member delegation from Sarala Birla University (SBU), led by Vice Chancellor Prof. C. Jaganathan, has reached the prestigious Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Bangkok, Thailand, under a high-impact academic collaboration.

The delegation—comprising faculty and students from Engineering, Computer Science, Commerce, and Business Management—is participating in the Global Immersion Program, designed to foster cross-border innovation and learning.

 Strategic Tie-Up with Asia’s Premier Tech Hub

During the visit, SBU and AIT will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen academic partnerships, joint research, and faculty exchange programs. AIT, established in 1959, is globally acclaimed for cutting-edge research in engineering, management, environment, and AI-based technologies.

The team includes senior academics such as Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Ajay Kumar, Dr. Manoj Pandey, Dr. Riya Mukherjee, Dr. Meera Verma, and Dr. B. Samanta, along with several bright students selected for this global opportunity.

Learning with the World: Innovation & AI at the Core

From June 16, SBU participants will dive into the Faculty Development Program and the Global AI Innovation Internship, tailor-made by AIT to train participants in AI, machine learning, deep learning, cyber security, communication skills, and design thinking.

Participants will also visit Thailand’s leading research labs, tech centers, and industries, offering firsthand exposure to global corporate ecosystems.

This historic academic tour has been made possible through the efforts of AIT Executive Director Prof. Nitin Kumar Tripathi, Dr. Rishi Jain, and the SBU leadership team —Prof C Jeganathan (Vice Chancellor),Prof. Gopal Pathak (Director General) and Dr. Pradip Kumar Varma (Director, Planning & Development).

SBU has extended partial financial support to students, while AIT has generously offered a 60% subsidy on program costs.

A First for Jharkhand’s Academic Community

This is the first international study tour of its kind by any university from Jharkhand, uniting faculty and students on a global platform for hands-on learning and academic enrichment.

“This collaboration will open new doors for knowledge sharing, innovation, and global exposure,” said SBU Chancellor Jayshree Mohta, Vice Chancellor B.K. Dalan, and BOG Member Anant Jatia, congratulating the team on representing SBU and Jharkhand on the world stage.
