Railways Big Festive Plan – Special Trains, New Routes and 20% Discount on Return Tickets
New Delhi: Indian Railways has announced a massive festive push, rolling out 12,000 special trains and introducing four new Amrit Bharat services to handle the festive rush during Diwali and Chhath.
The announcement was made by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw after a meeting with Bihar NDA leaders in Delhi. The minister said the decision was taken after assessing the heavy travel demand during the festive season.
To ensure smoother travel for passengers, Railways will introduce four Amrit Bharat trains on key routes:
-
Delhi–Gaya
-
Saharsa–Amritsar
-
Chhapra–Delhi
-
Muzaffarpur–Hyderabad
These services are specially designed for general class passengers, who often face the biggest travel hurdles during festivals.
Adding to the festive cheer, the Railways has also announced a new experimental scheme:
-
Passengers booking journeys between October 13–26 with return trips scheduled between November 17–December 1 will be assured confirmed tickets.
-
They will also get a 20% discount on return fares.
Officials said the move aims to ease overcrowding, reduce ticket woes, and provide affordable travel for millions of passengers traveling home for the festivals.
