BJP’s Kumar Amit Slams MLA Shweta Singh for Misleading Displaced, Blocking Bokaro’s Growth

Bokaro: A political war of words has erupted in Bokaro with BJP State Working Committee member Kumar Amit launching a scathing attack on Congress MLA Shweta Singh, accusing her of double standards, misleading the displaced community, and endangering the district’s industrial climate.

Amit, in a press release, said the people of Bokaro were “shocked” by Singh’s contradictory stand. On August 7, Bokaro Deputy Commissioner instructed SAIL to complete land mutation and initiated steps for granting Panchayat status to displaced villages.

The very next day, MLA Shweta Singh reportedly congratulated the DC with flowers and even took credit before the displaced families. But within just 20 days, Amit said, she made a dramatic U-turn—calling for a “Mahasangram” against the very directives she earlier celebrated.

“This flip-flop has left the displaced society confused and betrayed,” Amit charged. “If the directives were wrong, why did she praise them? And if they were right, why is she now calling for a struggle against her own government’s order? A responsible leader must give direction to the people, not mislead them with political theatrics.”

Amit further warned that such actions risk derailing the expansion of Bokaro Steel Plant and could harm industrialization, which is crucial for generating jobs for local youth, especially the displaced families. “Industrial development is Bokaro’s lifeline. Disrupting it with contradictory politics is not just unfortunate, it is dangerous,” he added.

He urged Shweta Singh to raise the issue in the Assembly and push her government to frame a clear displacement and rehabilitation policy rather than resorting to street politics. “Calling for Mahayuddha in one’s own party’s government exposes either lack of understanding or deliberate mischief. The people of Bokaro expect maturity, not confusion,” Amit said.

Concluding his statement, the BJP leader appealed to the displaced community to decide their future course “on the basis of facts, not political drama,” stressing that a stable industrial environment is the key to both development and justice for the displaced.

“Amid allegations leveled by a BJP leader, efforts to reach the MLA by phone were unsuccessful, as the MLA remained unavailable for comment.”
