New Delhi: Ukraine’s Ambassador to India, Oleksandr Polishchuk, on Sunday confirmed that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may soon visit New Delhi, with both sides working to finalise dates following an invitation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The Indian Prime Minister invited President Zelenskyy. Both sides are working on this, and we expect him to be in India. It will mark a significant step in our bilateral ties,” Polishchuk told ANI. He added that Kyiv hopes for “greater Indian involvement in peace-building efforts” amid the ongoing conflict with Russia.
Thank you President Zelenskyy for your warm greetings. I deeply value the joint commitment to forging even closer ties between India and Ukraine. We earnestly wish our friends in Ukraine a future marked by peace, progress and prosperity.@ZelenskyyUa https://t.co/g5HYuCuIRo

The envoy also underlined the potential for a “future strategic partnership” between India and Ukraine spanning trade, technology, science, and culture.
The development comes days after President Zelenskyy extended Independence Day greetings to India on X (formerly Twitter), stressing shared values of “freedom, dignity, peace, and development,” while expressing hope that India will play a constructive role in ending the war.
Prime Minister Modi, in his response, wished Ukraine “peace, progress and prosperity” and reiterated India’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
Zelenskyy, who recently held peace talks with US President Donald Trump following Trump’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, is expected to focus on India’s role in global mediation during his visit.
