Yasin Malik’s Explosive Affidavit in Delhi High Court

Jailed Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik has dropped a bombshell, claiming that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh personally thanked him for meeting Lashkar-e-Taiba founder Hafiz Saeed as part of India’s peace efforts with Pakistan.

Malik, serving a life sentence in a terror-funding case, made the assertion in an affidavit filed before the Delhi High Court, media reports said.

IB’s Role in Backchannel Peace Efforts

According to Malik, then-Intelligence Bureau Special Director V.K. Joshi instructed him ahead of his 2005 visit to Pakistan to engage not just with political leaders but also with hardline terror figures, including 26/11 mastermind Saeed.

He claimed he even addressed jihadist groups in Pakistan, appealing to them to embrace peace.

Yasin: “Personally Thanked” by Manmohan Singh

Malik said that after returning to India, he met Singh in New Delhi in the presence of National Security Advisor M.K. Narayanan. He alleged that Singh praised his role, saying: “I consider you the father of the non-violent movement in Kashmir.”

BJP’s Sharp Rebuttal

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wasted no time in attacking the Congress over the claim.
BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya posted on X:
“Yasin Malik is a hardened terrorist guilty of gunning down three Air Force personnel. If these claims are true, they raise grave questions about the UPA’s handling of national security and backchannel diplomacy.”
