India Strikes 9 Terror Camps, 5 Pakistan Fighter Jets Downed in Operation Sindoor

New Delhi: The Government of India has formally recognised the bravery and sacrifice of soldiers who played pivotal roles in the nation’s most crucial military operations, including the high-risk Operation Sindoor.

In a recent gazette notification, the Centre detailed citations honouring the acts of extraordinary courage displayed by officers of the Indian Army and Indian Air Force across several operations.

Among the decorated heroes, Colonel Koshank Lamba was awarded the Vir Chakra for his exceptional courage and leadership in combat, embodying the true spirit of the Indian Army. Lieutenant Colonel Sushil Bisht, also conferred the Vir Chakra, was recognised for his tactical brilliance in commanding a successful strike that obliterated terrorist positions.

From the Indian Air Force, Group Captain Ranjeet Singh Sidhu earned the Vir Chakra for leading precision strike missions that achieved all set objectives with remarkable efficiency. Group Captain Animesh Patni, commanding a forward-based Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) squadron, received the same honour for his effective leadership and precise engagement that inflicted significant damage on the enemy while safeguarding his assets.

Earlier, President Droupadi Murmu had approved 127 Gallantry Awards and 40 Distinguished Service Awards for personnel of the Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces, recognising their exceptional valour and service in defending the nation.
