Vedanta's Nand Ghar Equips 1 Lakh Anganwadi Children with Learning Kits

Bokaro: In a push to strengthen early childhood education in rural India, Nand Ghar — Vedanta Group’s flagship social impact initiative — has launched a nationwide distribution campaign providing school bags and steel water bottles to 1,00,000 children across its centres in 10 states.

The drive is aimed at boosting attendance and encouraging foundational learning among children attending Nand Ghars — modernised Anganwadi centres developed by Vedanta. The group has upgraded over 11,000 centres across 17 states, largely in rural regions, to deliver integrated support in education, nutrition and healthcare.

Children in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Assam, Maharashtra and Gujarat will receive the kits, designed to help them carry learning materials and build healthy habits early through regular hydration.

“This initiative reflects our commitment to ensuring every child at a Nand Ghar feels prepared and confident,” said CEO Shashi Arora, noting that access to daily essentials can drive participation, self-belief and improved learning outcomes.

The effort forms part of Nand Ghar’s larger mission to transform Anganwadis into vibrant community hubs advancing child development and women’s empowerment. With thousands of centres already operational, the programme continues to scale as a community-driven model supporting India’s goal of holistic early childhood development.

Notably, backed by the Anil Agarwal Foundation, Nand Ghar is working to modernise India’s Anganwadi network by delivering services in nutrition, early education, healthcare and skill-building. Operating through more than 11,500 centres, it currently reaches over 4 lakh children and 3 lakh women, with plans to expand its impact further.
