Washington: Donald Trump has hinted that the conflict with Iran may be nearing its conclusion, even as the United States ramps up its military deployment across the Middle East, underscoring a mix of cautious optimism and strategic pressure.
Troop Surge Despite Peace Signals
Even as Trump spoke of a possible end to hostilities, the Pentagon has reportedly ordered the deployment of nearly 10,000 additional troops to the region. Around 6,000 personnel are already stationed aboard the USS George H.W. Bush and its accompanying fleet.
Another 4,200 troops, part of the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group and the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, are expected to arrive later this month. This will take the total American military presence in the Gulf to roughly 50,000 personnel.
