Guwahati: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale visited the campus of Pragjyotishpur University at Hajongbari in Chandrapur, near Guwahati, on September 8, 2026, and interacted with students, faculty members and the university community.
During his visit, Hosabale shared his views on the role of education, culture and values in shaping society. His address focused on developing a stronger and more meaningful vision of education, cultural awareness and nation-building.
Highlighting the transformative role of education in societal and national development, Hosabale stressed the need for student-centric, experiential and skill-based learning. He also underlined the importance of character-building and value-based education in line with the National Education Policy.
Describing students as the foundation of the nation’s future, Hosabale appreciated the collective efforts behind the establishment of the non-profit university. He also referred to the inaugural batch of students, describing them as a unique part of the institution’s history as its founding cohort.
Pragjyotishpur University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghvendra Prasad Tiwari delivered the welcome address and outlined the university’s vision of integrating Indian Knowledge Systems, traditions and values with contemporary global education.
Tiwari said the university seeks to nurture a generation that remains rooted in its heritage, equipped with modern knowledge and committed to contributing to the goal of making Bharat a Vishwaguru. The programme was held in the presence of University Chancellor Lt Gen Rana Pratap Kalita (Retd).
Later, Hosabale, along with RSS Akhil Bharatiya Karyakarini Sadasya V. Bhagaiah and Ulhas Kulkarni, participated in a sapling plantation drive on the university campus.
The programme was also attended by Basistha Bujarbaruah, RSS Kshetra Prasarak; K.N. Raghunandan, Organising Secretary, Vidya Bharati Uchcha Shiksha; Dr Pawan Tiwari, Organising Secretary; Dr Jagadindra Raychoudhury, Secretary, Vidya Bharati Purvottar Kshetra; Dr Debabrat Khanikar, Registrar, Pragjyotishpur University; and Indra Chapakai, a university member, among others.
The plantation drive highlighted the importance of linking education and social responsibility with environmental conservation. The initiative symbolised a shared commitment to environmental responsibility and a greener, more sustainable future.
Hosabale’s visit featured interactions with the university community, discussions on education and values, and a message centred on responsible citizenship, cultural rootedness and sustainable development.
