Chandrapura Thermal Power Station (CTPS) a unit of Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) set a record in the month of April this year by running at 99.07 per cent PLF since its inception.
In the last financial year, it has made its place 9 times in the top 10 thermal power plants in the country, informed Ajay Kumar Dutta, Chief Engineer and Project Head of CTPS.
“CTPS ranked seventh in the country at 37% Plant Load Factor (PLF) in May 1989, fifth at 91.29 % in June 2021, third at 90.37 % in July 2021, and 81.64 in September 2021 while ranked seventh in the country with 83.13 percent PLF in October; sixth with 91.89 percent in February 2022; and 10th with 94.60 in March 2022,” he added.
CTPS has generated 3815.96 Million Units of electricity in the last financial year, which is better than the previous record generation (FY 2018- 19) of 3562.59 Million Units, he said.
“Unit 7 of Chandrapura Thermal Power Station operated continuously for 230 days from 1st April 2021 to 16th November 2021, while the last 8 days from 10th April 2021 to 15 August 2001 continued for 127 days,” he added.
As per the guidelines of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, DVC Chandrapura is using 100% ash for the last two years. Since 23 March 2022, the mines of the Jharia Division of Tata Steel are being continuously filled with ash through new technology, he said.
“DVC Chandrapura has obtained Certificate of Accreditation from National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratory, (Naval) as per ISO for the last 21 December 2021 to 20 December 2023,” added Dutta.
He said, the DVC’s +2 High School is proven to be a blessing for the students in this area during the briefing on the accomplishments of CTPS. School has, in addition to producing a large number of administrative officers and doctors and engineers, a strong academic reputation. “This year, Nikki Kumari, a student at the same school, won the state championship in Inter Commerce, placing her at the top of the competition. The accomplishment is something that the inhabitants of this region can look back on with pride,” he added.
It is the first time that any of the DVC hospitals have had an ETP plant (2 KLD) commissioned, and it was done so in the Chandrapura DVC Hospital. Today marks the commissioning of the first of Jio’s three planned towers; the remaining two towers are scheduled to be installed by the end of this month. The DGR for the DVC residential colony was only appointed at the beginning of this month, which is a significant development from the perspective of the safety of the residents, Dutta said.
