RNS: PV Sindhu, India’s badminton star, is the only player in the top 25 Forbes list of the world’s highest-paid female athletes.
Sindhu, a silver medalist at the 2016 Tokyo Olympics, is ranked 12th on the list, which is headed by Japanese tennis star Naomi Osaka.
After winning a gold medal in the singles competition and a silver medal in the doubles competition at the Commonwealth Games held earlier this year in Birmingham, Sindhu earned $7 million of her total earnings of $7.1 million from off-court sources, according to the report. The competition was held earlier this year.
Osaka has, for the third year in a row, been able to keep her spot atop the annual Forbes list of the highest-paid female athletes in the world. Her earnings are currently in the $18.2 million range. It should come as no surprise that tennis players occupy the majority of the positions on this list.
Following Osaka on the list of best tennis players is a group of seven other players who are all currently ranked inside the Top 10. The names Serena Williams, Emma Raducanu, Iga Swiatek, Venus Williams, Coco Gauff, and Jessica Pegula are associated with each of these players. Following Osaka on the list is the next player, Osaka.
