RNS: DPS Bokaro bagged with the renowned “Green School” award at the 8th Annual Conference on Skill Education and Sustainable Development Goal, hosted by the Centre for Educational Development (CED) India on January 8, in New Delhi. The School has received a 7-Star Rating with A+++ Grade.

The award was given by Pratibha Shukla, Minister of State, Women Welfare, Child Development and Nutrition, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh and Sangeeta Tiwari, Member of Women Welfare Commission, Uttar Pradesh. This award recognizes the outstanding efforts and achievements of the schools in promoting environmental sustainability and conservation.

Around 1975 schools from across the country applied for this award, and only six schools were selected for 7-Star Rating, while 69 schools were assessed with 5-Star Rating. DPS Bokaro is the only school from Jharkhand to have received this coveted award.

Over the years, DPS Bokaro has made a concerted effort to implement environmental friendly practices and policies across all aspects of school life. This includes reducing energy consumption through renewable energy sources, promoting recycling and waste reduction. One of the most notable initiatives the school implemented is the installation of solar panels on the roof of the school building.

This not only helps to reduce the carbon footprint but also serves as a valuable educational tool for students, teaching them about the importance of renewable energy and the benefits of using clean energy sources.

The school also has a strong recycling program, with recycling bins and composting stations. It has also implemented a “no single-use plastic” policy and encourages the use of reusable containers and water bottles. These initiatives have helped in diverting a significant amount of waste from landfills and reduce our overall environmental impact.

Dr. A. S. Gangwar, Principal, DPS Bokaro said, “We are committed to continuous improvement and are always looking for new ways to reduce our environmental impact. We believe that small actions can collectively lead to a big change, and we are honoured to be recognized for our efforts in creating a sustainable future for our students and the community.

This award is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our students, faculty, and staff, who have worked tirelessly to make our school a leader in environmental sustainability. We will continue to strive towards a greener future.”

He dedicated the award to all members of the school community for their continued effort to promote an environment-friendly culture.
