Army chopper Cheetah crashes in Arunachal, killing both pilots

RNS: An Army helicopter (Cheetah) performing an operational mission near Bomdila, Arunachal Pradesh, crashed on Thursday, killing both pilots, Army officials confirmed about the incident.

At around 9.15 a.m., the helicopter reportedly lost communication with air traffic control. The accident occurred at Mandala, west of Bomdila. The official informed that search and rescue teams were dispatched to find the two missing pilots.

According to reports, Lt Col VVB Reddy and Major Jayanth A piloted the Cheetah that crashed from Senge to Missamari.

“An Army Aviation Cheetah helicopter flying an operational sortie near Bomdila, Arunachal Pradesh, was reported to have lost contact with the ATC at around 09:15 am today. It is reported to have crashed near Mandala, West of Bomdila. Search parties have been launched,” Lt Col Mahendra Rawat, PRO Defence Guwahati, said in a statement issued early in the day.
