RNS: DPS Chas held its 2023-24 Annual Function, “ABHUYDAY” The Rising, to honour its students’ state and national academic achievements.
This year’s theme was “Lead Us from Darkness to Light.” Passionate celebrations characterized the event.
Kuldeep Choudhary, Deputy Commissioner Bokaro, was the principal guest, and Dileep Pratab Singh Shekhawat, SDO Chas, was the guest of honour. DPS Chas Chief Mentor Dr Hemlata S Mohan, Pro-Vice Chairman N Muralidharan, Secretary D S Memorial Society Suresh Agarwal, Director Dr Naveen Kumar Sharma, Officiating Principal Deepali Bhuskute, and Dean Academics Jose Thomas joined them.
The principal guest and dignitaries lit the lamp to start the event. The delightful school choir performed ‘Aao Sajda Kare Hum Aman Ke Liya,’ a welcome song, to captivate the audience. Then came the school anthem and a lovely welcome dance to ‘Saraswati Vandana.’
Officiating Principal Deepali Bhuskute presented the yearly report detailing the school’s achievements. A stunning student dance performance honouring ‘Mahamaya’ and Ma Durga, the goddess of love, followed.
A lovely dance performance by 500 junior pupils on the theme of ‘World Peace’ with the motto, ‘When you make peace with yourself, you make peace with the world,’ received tremendous applause.
DC Bokaro launched the school magazine and wished the kids well, recognizing their global potential.
SDO Chas called the event a fascinating literary spectacle and stressed children’s infinite talents and capacity to change the world. He also praised DPS Chas for its commitment to education and for raising responsible citizens who help build a better society and nation in line with the National Education Policy.
At the felicitation ceremony, 251 students received gold medals, blue blazers, scholar badges, proficiency awards, and other prizes. Sutlej House won the Chairman’s Trophy for the finest house. Atharva Srivastava from III-A won the Dr Hemlata S Mohan Trophy for junior All-Rounder Best Student, while Bouddhik Goswami from VIII-A won the Dr A P J Abdul Kalam Trophy for senior Best student. Nine pupils also received Blue Blazer awards for their hard work.
Dr Hemlata S Mohan praised the student’s hard work and gave advice. She repeated the subject ‘Tamaso Ma Jyotirgamaya’ and said every child has unique talents that can transform the world.
