Jharkhand soon to get a 500 bed Medical College

RNS I Ranchi: A significant development is on the horizon for Itki, Ranchi, in the state of Jharkhand as plans are underway to establish a 500-bed medical college, university, and school in the region.

The announcement came during the inauguration of the program for the construction of the Azim Premji University, held at TB Sanatorium Ground in Itki, where Hemant Soren, Chief Minister of Jharkhand, revealed that the Azim Premji Foundation is set to invest a substantial sum of Rs 5,000 crore for the creation of a world-class Azim Premji University. Additionally, the foundation will establish a 500-bed medical college and school in the vicinity.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed his optimism that teaching activities at the university and school will commence by the year 2026. He emphasized the importance of the Azim Premji Foundation’s commitment to supporting low-income families, stating that it will elevate Itki’s national recognition.

During the event, Chief Minister Soren engaged in a video conference with Mr. Azim Premji himself.

He praised the Azim Premji Foundation for its global recognition, highlighting that the organization is renowned not for its financial prowess but for its unwavering dedication to social causes.

The Foundation has been instrumental in enhancing healthcare and education for the most marginalized members of society.

The Chief Minister commended the productive partnership between the state administration and the Azim Premji Foundation.

He noted that despite having the option to establish the initiative in any other state, the Foundation chose Itki due to the state government’s policies and commitment.

Furthermore, Soren underscored the state administration’s determination to meet all necessary requirements and deadlines to support the Azim Premji Foundation’s vision.

Azim Premji reassured the Chief Minister of the Foundation’s commitment to work closely with the state administration and contribute to the state’s development.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Sudarshan Bhagat, Bandhu Tirkey, Rajiv Arun Ekka, Anurag Behar (CEO of Azim Premji Foundation), Principal Secretary of HRD, Additional Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Vinay Kumar Choubey, officials from the state government, representatives of the Azim Premji Foundation, and a large number of villagers eager to witness this transformative initiative.
