RNS: In an accident at Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL), two workers sustained burn injuries and were immediately rushed to the hospital, where the condition of one worker is reported to be critical while another is said to be stable.

The accident occurred in the MSDS 4 area of the Sinter Plant at BSL. The injured workers, employed by M/s Hind Electricals, sustained burns due to an electrical flush into 11 KV electric cables, according to an eyewitness. The incident took place around 11:30 am on Friday while the workers were on duty.

Another eyewitness explained that employees of DNW Cable Group were preparing to shut down and cut the 11KV cable. However, during the cutting process, one worker accidentally severed the live cable, resulting in severe burns for one worker and partial injuries for another.

Efforts to contact the Chief of Communication at BSL were unsuccessful. However, an anonymous official confirmed that the incident occurred while workers were removing unwanted and unused cables. Mistakingly cutting the wrong cable led to a sudden electrical flash, injuring two workers.

Both injured workers have been admitted to BGH for treatment and are reported to be in stable condition, with no immediate danger to their lives.

Following the incident, the plant management has formed a team to investigate the cause of the accident, according to official sources.
