IIT-ISM Dhanbad Marks Anti-Ragging Day with Engaging Performances

Dhanbad: IIT-ISM Dhanbad celebrated Anti-Ragging Day with a dynamic event featuring a street corner play titled Aakhiri Shuruaat Dobara, presented by the Abhay Dramatics Club, the official student drama group of the institute. The performance took place at Penman Auditorium and was part of a 45-minute melodramatic show.

The event included two plays: the first, Aakhiri Shuruaat Dobara, was a 30-minute production depicting the lively and inclusive campus life at IIT-ISM. Performed by a 15-member team of B Tech 2nd and 3rd-year students, the play highlighted the engaging and friendly interactions between seniors and juniors, underscoring the absence of ragging in a supportive academic environment.

Following this, the audience enjoyed a 15-minute play titled Vibhajan Ek Tragedy, which explored the profound effects of the partition.

Saumya Kumar, a B Tech final-year student in Mineral and Metallurgical Engineering and co-coordinator of Abhay Dramatics Club, explained that the plays were organized in accordance with directives from the Ministry of Education.

In addition to the performances, an awareness program was held at Penman Auditorium. On August 12, the Office of the Dean of Student Welfare hosted a seminar to kick off Anti-Ragging Week.

The seminar featured speeches from Ravi Raj Sharma, Dhanbad Municipal Commissioner, and Shashi Bhushan Rai, Senior Vice President of the Dhanbad Press Club. Both guests urged students to maintain a cordial campus atmosphere and advised seniors to mentor and guide their juniors effectively.

The day’s events highlighted IIT-ISM Dhanbad’s dedication to fostering a respectful and cooperative campus environment.
