Bomb Blast Destroys Railway Track in Godda, Disrupts Coal Transport

Godda: Anti-social elements detonated a bomb on the MGR railway track used for transporting coal from Lalmatia to NTPC in Farakka, West Bengal on Tuesday midnight. The explosion occurred near Ghututola in Ranga village, resulting in significant damage as approximately 470 centimeters of track was destroyed, with debris scattered nearly 39 meters from the blast site, sources said.

The powerful explosion has halted the movement of goods trains along this route since Wednesday morning, disrupting coal transport operations. Local police promptly arrived at the scene and have since recovered electric wires and other evidence as part of their investigation.

In response to the incident, senior officials from Farakka NTPC and Barharwa SDPO have also visited the site to assess the situation. Eyewitness accounts, including that of night guard Govind Sao, described a loud bang around 11:59 PM, initially thought to be a tire explosion from a truck.

As a result of this attack, multiple coal-laden goods trains are stranded, significantly impacting logistics and operations in the region. Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify those responsible for the blast.
