IIT-ISM Extends Warm Welcome to Delegation of Uttarakhand under Yuva Sangam Initiative

Dhanbad: IIT-ISM Dhanbad welcomed a delegation of 50 young participants from Uttarakhand as part of the Yuva Sangam initiative, a program by the Ministry of Education under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat. The five-day cultural exchange program was inaugurated at the Golden Jubilee Lecture Theatre, with Professor Sukumar Mishra, Director of IIT-ISM, addressing the delegation and emphasizing the importance of such initiatives.

The program, which officially begins on January 17, 2025, will provide the Uttarakhand youth an opportunity to explore Jharkhand’s rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and industrial capabilities. Professor MK Singh, Dean (Academics), SK Gupta, Dean (Students Welfare), and Professor Sanjeev Anand Sahu, Jharkhand State Nodal Officer for Yuva Sangam, also attended the event, highlighting the significance of the exchange.

The itinerary includes visits to Ranchi’s Raj Bhavan, JHARCRAFT Centre, and Pahadi Temple on January 17-18, followed by insights into industrial missions at IIT-ISM Dhanbad. The delegation will also tour the Lodna and Moonidih coal mines on January 20 and explore the Damodar Valley Corporation’s Hydro Power Project on January 21. The program will conclude with a valedictory session before the delegation heads back to Roorkee.

This exchange, aimed at fostering unity and understanding between the youth of Jharkhand and Uttarakhand, follows a similar visit by 43 Jharkhand youth to Uttarakhand in late 2024. Professor Sahu noted that the participants would gain exposure in five key areas: tourism, traditions, development, people-to-people connect, and technology.
