NIA Nabs Key Suspect in Human Trafficking Case Linked to US

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested a prime suspect, Gagandeep Singh, today in the national capital for his alleged role in illegally trafficking an individual to the United States via the notorious “donkey route.”

The victim, who was deported back to India earlier this month, had been trafficked in December last year, according to the agency.

The NIA revealed that the victim paid approximately 45 lakh rupees to Singh, an unlicensed agent, for the illicit immigration process. Investigations uncovered that Singh, operating without any legal permit or registration, orchestrated the victim’s journey to the US through a complex route involving Spain, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Mexico.

The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the NIA’s efforts to dismantle human trafficking networks exploiting vulnerable individuals with promises of a better life abroad. Further details on the case are awaited as the investigation continues.
