BIT Sindri Celebrates Sarhul Mahotsav with Vibrant Display of Tribal Culture

Sindri: The Sarhul Festival at BIT Sindri was a vibrant celebration of tribal culture, drawing attention with its spectacular events. The occasion was graced by Professor Upendra Prasad, Dr. Ajay Oraon, Professor Incharge of the BIT Cultural Society, along with professors and officials including Professor D.K. Tanti, Professor Rajiv Verma, Dr. Jeetu Kujur, Dr. Nishikant Kisku, Dr. Amar Prakash Sinha, Dr. Amar Kumar, Dr. J.N. Mahato, Dr. Sagarum Hembrom, and Professor Boipai.

The festival began with a prayer and discourse at the worship site. Following the spiritual proceedings, the guests were welcomed and escorted to the Akhada, where a lively display of tribal culture unfolded. The excitement intensified when professors, caught in the festive spirit, donned the Mandar, and the rhythmic beats prompted students, staff, and locals to dance to Nagpuri tunes, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and joy.

A traditional Sarhul puja was conducted by Pahno (priest), marking a key highlight of the ceremony. Professor Ajay Oraon addressed the gathering, wishing everyone a joyful Sarhul festival. He emphasized the festival’s message of unity and protection, noting that tribal culture embodies a deep love for nature and promotes environmental conservation.

Dr. Jeetu Kujur elaborated on the historical and cultural significance of Sarhul, providing insights into its roots and traditions. Dr. Upendra Prasad extended his greetings, wishing the people of Jharkhand a happy Sarhul and Eid.

The event, which concluded at 1 pm, was a fitting celebration of tribal culture, nature’s reverence, and collective joy, leaving participants with lasting memories of the festival.
