Indian Army Foils Uri Infiltration, Kills Two Terrorists Day After Pahalgam Massacre

Baramulla: A day after the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 28 lives, the Indian Army successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, eliminating two terrorists in an intense gunfight.

According to the Army’s Chinar Corps, alert troops intercepted 2-3 unidentified terrorists trying to cross into Indian territory via the Sarjeevan area of Uri Nala early Wednesday. The encounter led to the death of two militants and the recovery of a large cache of arms, ammunition, and war-like materials. The operation remains underway.

“Heavy exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists, infiltration bid foiled. Two terrorists eliminated,” Chinar Corps posted on X, confirming the ongoing operation and weapon seizures.

The infiltration attempt came just hours after one of the deadliest attacks on civilians in recent times. On Tuesday, gunmen dressed in camouflage opened fire on tourists in Pahalgam’s Baisaran Valley—an area accessible only on foot or horseback. Reports indicate the attackers targeted non-Muslims, asking victims their religious identity before opening fire.

The terror strike, coinciding with the visit of U.S. Vice-President JD Vance to India, has triggered national outrage and condemnation. Security forces across Jammu and Kashmir remain on high alert as counter-terror operations continue.
