Pakistan-Based Hackers Fail in Attempted Cyber Attacks on Indian Websites

New Delhi: In yet another cyber misadventure, hacker groups allegedly linked to the Pakistani establishment—namely “Cyber Group HOAX1337” and “National Cyber Crew”—attempted to breach several Indian websites on May 1, but were swiftly thwarted by Indian cybersecurity agencies, according to ANI reports.

The attempted attacks targeted multiple sensitive websites, including those of Army Public School Nagrota and Sunjuwan, where defacement efforts carried provocative messages mocking victims of the recent Pahalgam terror attack. A healthcare portal for ex-servicemen was also temporarily defaced, a move security analysts interpret as a sign of increasing desperation and provocation from across the border.

The cyber offensives—aimed at platforms linked to children, veterans, and other vulnerable communities—have been strongly condemned by experts, who called them a continuation of Pakistan’s unethical digital provocations. Attempts were also made to breach the websites of the Army Institute of Hotel Management and Indian Air Force veterans, revealing a broader agenda to inflame tensions through cyberspace disruptions.

Cybersecurity professionals view these incidents as part of a wider strategy of hybrid warfare employed by Pakistan—merging conventional terrorism with cyber aggression in an apparent attempt to challenge India’s cyber resilience and strategic patience.

Indian agencies remain on high alert, reaffirming their capability to safeguard national digital infrastructure against such hostile incursions.
