India Alerts Public on Pakistan’s Fake News Campaign Post-Strikes

New Delhi: In the aftermath of India’s retaliatory military action, Pakistan has launched a widespread misinformation campaign on social media platforms in an apparent attempt to manipulate public sentiment and international opinion.

Officials have identified multiple instances where Pakistan has circulated unrelated and outdated videos to fabricate stories of military success. Among the misleading content is a video falsely claiming a drone strike in Jalandhar, which is in fact footage of a local farm fire.

Another widely shared clip, purported to show a missile attack on India, actually originates from the 2020 Beirut explosion in Lebanon.

One particularly egregious claim alleges that India used the Ambala Airbase to launch strikes on its own city, Amritsar — a narrative Indian authorities have categorically dismissed as baseless and inflammatory.

Authorities are urging citizens to stay vigilant against such deceptive content. The public is advised to verify all information, especially those concerning the Indian Armed Forces, through trusted sources. Suspicious content should be reported to the PIB Fact Check team via WhatsApp at 8799711259 or by email at socialmedia@pib.gov.in.

With tensions high, the government emphasizes the importance of responsible sharing and verification to counteract hostile propaganda.
