Dhanbad: In a significant step toward empowering underprivileged students with digital skills, the Department of Management Studies and Industrial Engineering at IIT-ISM) Dhanbad has launched a certification course titled “Data Analysis through Spreadsheet Modelling.” The program is supported by the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of CCSO-SAIL (Central Coalfields Steel Organization – Steel Authority of India Limited).
The course aims to enhance data literacy and analytical skills among economically disadvantaged youth in the Dhanbad region, aligning with national goals of digital empowerment and inclusive growth.
The inaugural ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation and was attended by senior SAIL officials. Shri Sanjay Tewary, Chief General Manager (HR), graced the event as Chief Guest and emphasized the critical role of digital education in building a skilled future workforce. He was accompanied by Shri Y. K. Paswan, General Manager (HR), and Shri S. K. Sahu, Head (Finance), who reaffirmed SAIL’s dedication to supporting educational initiatives for marginalized communities.
Prof. Dheeraj Kumar, Deputy Director of IIT-ISM, presided over the function, underscoring the institute’s commitment to social impact through academic outreach. Prof. Niladri Das, Head (In-Charge) of the Department, praised the collaborative effort that brought the project to life.
The course is being led by Prof. Shashank Bansal and Prof. Himanshu Gupta, who will provide hands-on, industry-relevant instruction in data analysis.
This initiative marks a meaningful collaboration between academia and industry, aimed at fostering inclusive development and contributing to the socio-economic upliftment of the local population through skill-based education.
