From Russian Club to Mangalam: SAIL’s BSL Restores Bokaro’s Iconic Event Centre
Bokaro’s legendary Russian Club has staged a grand comeback—reborn as Mangalam, a sleek, modern event destination unveiled by SAIL’s Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL). After years in silence, the iconic landmark has been transformed into a premium, multi-purpose venue, ready to host everything from high-profile conferences to weddings and cultural showcases.
Kundn Kumar, CGM (T&A), BSL said the rebranding and revival were cleared by the competent authority to transform the once-quiet complex into a contemporary events hub for the city. The facility is now open for bookings by SAIL employees and their guests, as well as public sector undertakings, government departments, banks and educational institutions.
A landmark returns to life
The move is aimed at restoring one of Bokaro’s most recognisable cultural spaces while meeting the growing demand for a well-equipped venue for weddings, receptions, corporate events and official functions.
Mangalam has been comprehensively upgraded. It features six furnished rooms and a centrally air-conditioned auditorium with a full stage, green rooms and a first-floor balcony inside the hall. Two open-air event spaces—on the west and south sides of the campus—offer options for outdoor functions. Organisers can also opt for a combined package that includes the auditorium, rooms and open areas for large-scale events.
