Complete Failure: 18 Haryana Schools Report 0% Pass in Class 12 Exams

Haryana: Despite an overall pass percentage of 85.66% in the HBSE Class 12 board exams this year, a startling revelation has shaken Haryana’s education system — 18 schools across the state recorded a 0% pass rate, prompting urgent concern from education authorities.

The Haryana Board of School Education (HBSE) has identified 100 underperforming institutions, including both government and private schools, following a district-wise analysis of the results. These findings have been forwarded to the Directorate of Education for immediate review and intervention.

“One school had 13 students, and none passed. In most zero-pass schools, only one or two students appeared — and failed,” said HBSE Chairman Dr. Pawan Kumar. He emphasized that many other schools also failed to cross the 35% pass threshold.

In response, the board has recommended disciplinary action against the teachers of the worst-performing institutions and submitted a detailed report to the Ministry of Education. Dr. Kumar stressed the need for teacher retraining, increased student support, and parental engagement to address the issue holistically.

“Understanding why students are failing is critical. We need a renewed focus on teaching quality and student well-being,” Dr. Kumar told The Times of India.

The HBSE announced the Class 12 results on May 13, while the Class 10 results were released on May 17. This year’s Class 10 pass percentage stood at an impressive 92.49%, with over 2.5 lakh students clearing the exam conducted from February 28 to March 19, 2025.

The contrasting outcomes between the two classes have underscored the urgent need for systemic reforms, especially at the senior secondary level.
