Dhanbad: A three-day Executive Development Program on “Mining Equipment Health and Safety Practices” commenced today at IIT-ISM Dhanbad, drawing senior executives, engineers, safety officers, and experts from across the nation.
Organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the program aims to strengthen knowledge in modern safety protocols, predictive maintenance, and technological innovations that improve equipment reliability and mine safety standards.
The inaugural session featured D. B. Naik, Deputy Director General of Mines Safety (DGMS), as Chief Guest. Emphasizing the need for thoughtful equipment planning, he urged the adoption of emerging technologies to enhance safety and sustainability in mining operations.
Prof. Dheeraj Kumar, Deputy Director of IIT-ISM, stressed the crucial role of mechanical and electrical engineering in ensuring seamless mining processes.
Program Coordinator Prof. Ajit Kumar outlined the event’s agenda, which blends theoretical learning with practical applications. Prof. N. K. Singh highlighted the department’s capabilities, while Prof. Nirajan Kumar closed the ceremony with a vote of thanks.
The program, running through May 23, covers key themes such as IoT- and AI-driven diagnostics, risk management, regulatory compliance, and real-world case studies. It aims to elevate India’s mining sector through improved safety culture and advanced maintenance strategies.
