‘Tarang’ Cultural Festival Begins at DPS Bokaro with Rhythmic Flair and Classical Elegance

Bokaro: Delhi Public School (DPS) Bokaro commenced its much-awaited four-day cultural celebration, ‘Tarang’, on Tuesday, with a grand opening ceremony held at the school’s Senior Wing. The event aims to celebrate, preserve, and promote India’s rich heritage through music, dance, and traditional art forms.

The festival was formally inaugurated by Principal Dr. A. S. Gangwar, who lit the ceremonial lamp amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras, marking the beginning of the cultural extravaganza.

Day One of the fest showcased an impressive display of rhythm and talent in the Inter-House Group Tabla Competition, where students mesmerized the audience with intricate renditions of ‘Ek Taal’ compositions. With synchronized performance and technical finesse, Chenab House secured the first position, followed by Jamuna House and Sutlej House in second and third places respectively.

The spotlight then shifted to the Solo Classical Vocal Competition, where students presented soul-stirring melodies based on Indian classical ragas.

  • Geet Pathak (Jamuna House)‘Kanha To Pe Jaoon…’ in Raga Desh

  • Utpal Verna Charukeshi (Jhelum House)‘Aaj More Ghar Aaye…’ in Raga Malkouns

  • Shambhavi Goswami (Chenab House)‘Kaisi Ye Bhalai Re…’ in Raga Bhairavi

  • Aryan Singh (Raavi House)‘Jag Karta Tu Hi…’ in Raga Bhairav

  • Piyush (Sutlej House)‘Tu Daras Dikha…’ in Raga Yaman

Among them, Utpal Verna Charukeshi from Jhelum House clinched the top spot, with Arnav Raj (Ganga House) and Piyush (Sutlej House) taking second and third positions respectively. The performances were judged by a panel comprising J. P. Sinha, Mayank Kumar Bhakta, and Deepak Kumar Jha, who praised the students’ musical prowess and understanding of ragas.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. Gangwar lauded the students’ enthusiasm and talent. “In a rapidly globalizing world, our commitment to preserving India’s cultural heritage remains strong. Events like ‘Tarang’ are instrumental in nurturing the cultural identity of our students and fostering respect for traditional Indian art forms,” he said.

With a powerful start, ‘Tarang’ promises to continue celebrating India’s artistic legacy over the next three days with more captivating events and student performances.
