No Non-Veg Food or Online Delivery Within 15 km of Ayodhya Dham
Ayodhya: The Ayodhya administration has significantly tightened food regulations in and around the holy city, extending the ban on the sale and delivery of non-vegetarian food to a 15-kilometre radius surrounding Ayodhya Dham. The prohibition now explicitly covers online food delivery platforms, officials said on Saturday.
Ayodhya Food Commissioner Manik Chandra Singh announced that non-vegetarian food will neither be served nor delivered through hotels, restaurants, or digital aggregators within the notified zone. The move follows reports that meat-based items were still being supplied through online platforms despite earlier restrictions within the temple town.
“Non-vegetarian food has been completely banned within a 15-kilometre radius of Ayodhya Dham. Some online deliveries were continuing earlier. We have now ensured that meat-based food is neither cooked nor delivered through any platform in the restricted area,” Singh said.

Officials clarified that the extended ban also covers areas falling along the Panchkosi Parikrama route, considered sacred by devotees. Enforcement teams have been instructed to conduct regular inspections of eateries, hotels, and delivery partners to ensure strict compliance. Any violation will attract punitive action under municipal and food safety regulations.
The decision has found support among sections of the local hospitality sector. Shubham Srivastava, a hotel general manager in Ayodhya, said the measure reflects the city’s religious ethos. “Ayodhya is a spiritual centre. Avoiding non-vegetarian food here is in keeping with our traditions. We welcome the administration’s decision and will fully comply,” he said.
Authorities said the move aims to preserve Ayodhya’s cultural and religious identity, especially in view of the sharp rise in pilgrim footfall following the inauguration of the Ram Temple.
