Bokaro’s 1984 Batch Reunites, Turns Back the Clock at City Park

Bokaro: Old friendships proved stronger than time as former students of the 1984 batch of Sector 1 High School reunited on Sunday at City Park for an emotional and joyful picnic with their families.

Meeting after more than 40 years, classmates embraced, laughed and relived school memories—mischief, friendships, careers and life journeys. The gathering turned nostalgic as games like musical chairs and antakshari recreated their childhood spirit, while cultural performances, old film songs and poetry added colour to the evening.

Soni Jaruhar Verma captured their shared past in a special memory booklet. Friends travelled from Jharkhand, Odisha, Bihar and other states to attend, while departed classmates were remembered with respect.

After lunch, the group posed for a grand photograph and later visited their old school. The sight of the aging building moved many to tears, reminding them of where their journey began.

Organisers Raj Krishna Raj, Vashishth Kumar, Yashpal Singh and Suresh Gupta said the reunion was meant to pause busy lives, reconnect with roots and strengthen bonds.

As dusk fell, the friends parted—carrying smiles, gratitude and memories that time could never fade.
