Bokaro: Turning up the heat over the long-delayed operationalisation of Bokaro Airport, BJP leader Kumar Amit has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding immediate commencement of passenger flight services.
Built under the Centre’s UDAN scheme at an estimated cost of ₹100 crore, the airport remains grounded—unused and steadily deteriorating. In his appeal, Amit flagged it as a “waste of public money” and urged the PM to intervene, break the bureaucratic deadlock, and fast-track Centre–state coordination for early operations.
Escalating the pitch, Amit announced a mass postcard campaign under the Bokaro Welfare Society, urging residents to write directly to the Prime Minister’s Office.
Targeting the state government, he alleged attempts to shift the project out of Bokaro and criticised local JMM and Congress MLAs for their silence. A citizens’ delegation has already dispatched the letter through Sector 2 Main Post Office, signalling a growing public push to get the airport off the ground.
