Vedanta ESL Steel Launches Farm Mechanisation, Soil Testing Facilities in Bokaro

Bokaro: In a major push towards sustainable agriculture and rural empowerment, Vedanta ESL Steel Limited on Friday inaugurated a Custom Hiring Centre and an advanced Soil Testing Device under Project WADI at Kunwarpur in Chas block of Bokaro district.

The initiative, launched in collaboration with National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development and implemented by Gramin Seva Sansthan, aims to strengthen scientific farming practices and improve productivity among small and marginal farmers in the region.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Bokaro Deputy Development Commissioner Shatabdi Mazumdar, along with senior officials, local representatives, farmers and community members. The dignitaries also visited a “Model Farm” developed under Project WADI to showcase modern and sustainable agricultural techniques.

The newly launched Custom Hiring Centre will provide farmers access to modern agricultural machinery and equipment at affordable rates, enabling them to use advanced tools for sowing, irrigation, land preparation and harvesting without the burden of heavy investment.

Meanwhile, the Soil Testing Device will help farmers scientifically analyse soil health, including NPK levels, pH balance and organic content, allowing them to adopt balanced fertiliser usage and improve crop yield.

Speaking at the event, Ravish Sharma said empowering farmers with modern technology and scientific farming practices was crucial for building resilient rural communities and sustainable livelihoods.

Project WADI has emerged as a key rural development initiative in the region, focusing on sustainable agriculture, community welfare and long-term livelihood enhancement.
