Ranchi: Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), Department of Space, Government of India, to strengthen collaboration in GeoAI, remote sensing, GIS, and geospatial research.
The MoU was signed at the BIT Mesra campus in the presence of NESAC Director Dr. S.P. Agarwal and BIT Mesra Vice Chancellor Prof. Indranil Manna, along with senior faculty members, scientists, and researchers from both institutions.
The five-year agreement aims to promote joint research projects, internships, research exchanges, specialised courses, workshops, and higher education opportunities in emerging geospatial technologies.
Under the partnership, NESAC will provide technical expertise, satellite imagery, geospatial databases, and meteorological datasets to support collaborative research activities. BIT Mesra, meanwhile, will contribute through academic research, outreach programmes, and training initiatives in engineering and remote sensing.
The collaboration will also enable joint supervision of research scholars, guest faculty engagements, and part-time Master’s and PhD opportunities for NESAC scientists and researchers.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. S.P. Agarwal said the partnership would strengthen research and technological development in geospatial applications, while Prof. Indranil Manna highlighted its potential for impactful research and quality academic output in GeoAI and space technology.
