Bokaro: Padma Bhushan Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty, one of India’s most celebrated Hindustani classical vocalists, will perform in Bokaro on November 21, 2026, in a concert jointly organised by the ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata, and the Bharatiya Sangeet Kala Academy, Bokaro Steel City.
Announcing the event, Dr. Rakesh Ranjan, noted tabla exponent and Secretary of the Bharatiya Sangeet Kala Academy, said the maestro’s visit would be a landmark cultural occasion for Bokaro and a rare opportunity for music lovers to witness a live performance by one of the country’s finest classical singers.
A leading exponent of the Patiala-Kasur gharana, Pandit Chakrabarty is known for his mastery of Khayal, Thumri, Tappa, Bhajan, Kirtan, and Ghazal. A recipient of the Padma Bhushan (2020), Padma Shri (2011), Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, and Tansen Samman, he has earned international acclaim for his contributions to Indian classical music.
Founder of the renowned Shrutinandan music institution in Kolkata, Pandit Chakrabarty has nurtured generations of musicians. His daughter, Kaushiki Chakraborty, is also among India’s leading Hindustani classical vocalists.
