India to Mark 75th Anniversary of Constitution with Year-Long Celebrations

New Delhi: The Government of India has announced a year-long series of events starting tomorrow to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Indian Constitution. The celebrations, which will run until November 26, 2025, will highlight the significance of this milestone in the country’s democratic history.

On November 26, 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India officially adopted the Constitution, which came into effect on January 26, 1950. To mark the occasion, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju shared details about the celebrations during a press conference in New Delhi. A grand event will be organized at the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan, where President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to address members of both Houses of Parliament. Minister Rijiju emphasized that this celebration is not just about Parliament but about honoring the Constitution and its impact on the entire nation. He also urged the public to actively participate in various activities planned across the country.

The year-long celebrations will be conducted under the theme “Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Swabhimaan” (Our Constitution, Our Pride), aiming to recognize the contributions of the framers of the Constitution and reiterate the core democratic values it enshrines.

The celebrations will not only be a tribute to the Constitution’s makers but also serve as a reminder of the enduring importance of the democratic values enshrined in it, as India continues to uphold the ideals of justice, equality, and liberty.
