Bihar Voter List Revision: EC to Publish Draft Roll on August 1

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has assured political parties that the Special Intensive Revision of the electoral rolls in Bihar is being conducted in a structured and phased manner to ensure that no eligible citizen is left behind.

In a high-level meeting held at Nirvachan Sadan, New Delhi, the Commission briefed representatives from key political parties including the Congress, RJD, CPI(M), Samajwadi Party, DMK, and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi, addressed concerns, queries, and suggestions raised by the parties regarding the ongoing revision exercise in Bihar.

The Commission highlighted that the voter list revision in Bihar is progressing smoothly and transparently, thanks to the active involvement of over 1.54 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs) appointed by recognized political parties across the state.

Two-Phase Revision Drive:

  • Phase 1 (June 25 – July 3): Distribution of Enumeration Forms to nearly 7.9 crore electors across Bihar.

  • Phase 2 (Until July 25): Submission of filled Enumeration Forms. Booth Level Officers and volunteers have been deployed to assist voters during this stage.

The Draft Electoral Roll is scheduled to be published on August 1, marking a key milestone in the pre-election process.

The Election Commission emphasized its commitment to inclusivity, transparency, and participation throughout the electoral roll revision, urging all political stakeholders to continue their cooperation in ensuring a clean and updated voter list for Bihar.
