Mumbai Kayastha Mahasammelan 2026: GKC Chief Calls for Massive Participation

Patna: Global Kayastha Conference (GKC) Global President Rajiv Ranjan Prasad has called for massive participation by the Kayastha community in the Virat Kayastha Mahasammelan, scheduled for December 20 at Kharghar in Navi Mumbai.

Describing the convention as a major platform for community unity and progress, he urged Kayasthas across the country and abroad to come together to strengthen their social, cultural and historical identity.

Prasad made the appeal at the GKC Bihar Pradesh executive committee meeting in Patna, attended by representatives from all 38 districts. He asked district leaders to take the message of the Mumbai convention to every Kayastha household and ensure maximum participation.

Held at Thakur Prasad Community Hall in Kidwaipuri, the meeting focused on organisational expansion, economic empowerment, social welfare and preservation of Kayastha heritage. The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by the GKC anthem and felicitation of district representatives.

Political Representation a Major Concern

Raising concern over the declining political representation of Kayasthas, Prasad said the community had made significant contributions to India’s freedom struggle and nation-building but needed to strengthen its presence in political and social affairs.

He said the GKC Political Affairs Committee was preparing a roadmap to improve the community’s political participation and called for coordinated efforts to secure a stronger voice in public life.

Focus on Women, Youth and Needy Families

GKC Managing Trustee Ragini Ranjan stressed women’s economic empowerment through employment, self-employment and promotion of small and cottage industries. She called for district-specific initiatives based on women’s skills and local resources.

GKC Global Vice-President and Bihar Pradesh President Deepak Abhishek urged district units to intensify membership drives, hold regular meetings and strengthen coordination to expand the organisation’s reach.

The meeting also proposed identifying economically weaker Kayastha families and providing need-based assistance, including support for the marriages and remarriages of children from disadvantaged households. Creating employment and self-employment opportunities for young people was another key priority.

Heritage Preservation and GKC Help Desk

Preserving the community’s legacy also featured prominently. Participants proposed district-level programmes to mark the birth and death anniversaries of prominent Kayastha personalities, install their statues and seek the naming of roads and public places after distinguished community figures.

The meeting also discussed setting up a GKC Help Desk to provide guidance on healthcare, legal matters, insurance, income tax, GST and business-related issues through experts.

A plantation drive and a campaign to present saplings instead of flower bouquets at social functions were proposed to promote environmental awareness.

Tribute to Former MP R.K. Sinha

The gathering paid floral tributes to former MP R.K. Sinha, recalling his contributions to society.

Expanding membership, strengthening district units and improving coordination between state and district leadership were identified as key organisational priorities.
