“Modi Is Not a Big Problem, Just a Showman”: Rahul Gandhi Mocks Modi

RNS: Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, took a sharp dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him a “showman with no substance” during a party workers’ event in the national capital.

Speaking at the Bhagidari Nyay Sammelan in New Delhi, Rahul attempted to downplay the Prime Minister’s political stature, suggesting that Modi’s image is more a product of media hype than actual governance depth.

“Narendra Modi is not a major problem. You think too highly of him. The media has created a hype. I had never met him earlier, but after interacting with him a few times, I can confidently say—there is nothing much to him. He is just a showman,” Gandhi said while addressing party cadres.

His remarks came on a significant day for the BJP leader, as PM Modi surpassed former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s record for the second-longest uninterrupted tenure in office. Modi has now completed 4,078 consecutive days as Prime Minister, a streak that began with his first swearing-in in 2014.

With this milestone, Modi becomes the second Indian Prime Minister, after Jawaharlal Nehru, to serve three consecutive terms and also holds the record as the longest-serving non-Congress Prime Minister.

Despite the historic moment for the BJP and its leader, Rahul Gandhi attempted to undermine Modi’s legacy, framing him as an over-hyped figure with limited real impact. His comments are likely to intensify the ongoing war of words between the Congress and the ruling BJP ahead of upcoming electoral battles.
