AIJ National Meet in Mumbai Honours Top Journalists; Mukesh Kumar Sinha Wins Two National Journalism Awards

Mumbai: The Association of Indian Journalists (AIJ) held its 12th National Annual General Meeting and Journalism Awards Ceremony in Mumbai, bringing together office-bearers and journalists from 22 states to deliberate on key issues concerning the media fraternity and honour excellence in journalism.

The highlight of the event was the conferment of the National Award for Investigative Journalism and the ‘Patrakar Ratna Samman’ on senior journalist Mukesh Kumar Sinha in recognition of his outstanding contribution to investigative reporting and the profession.

The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and the national anthem, followed by discussions on journalists’ safety, professional rights, social security, legal support and educational welfare. Representatives from various states presented annual reports and shared suggestions for strengthening the organisation.

Addressing the gathering, AIJ National President Vikram Sen said the association, with over 1.32 lakh members, has emerged as a strong national platform committed to protecting the dignity, rights and welfare of journalists. Senior office-bearers also emphasised legal awareness, greater participation of women in leadership and collective action to address challenges facing the profession.

The event concluded with the AIJ Journalism Awards, recognising distinguished contributions to investigative journalism, public service and organisational development.
