Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: India on Wednesday successfully conducted a test of its Agni-5 intermediate-range ballistic missile from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur, Odisha, marking a major leap in the country’s strategic defence capabilities.
The Defence Ministry confirmed the launch, stating that the missile met “all operational and technical parameters” during the trial.
Developed indigenously by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Agni-5 is the most advanced missile in the Agni series and a crucial pillar of India’s land-based nuclear deterrent. With a range of over 5,000 kilometres, the nuclear-capable missile significantly strengthens India’s reach and strike capability.
