Avinash Kumar Takes Charge as Jharkhand Chief Secretary

Ranchi: The Jharkhand government has appointed Avinash Kumar, a 1993-batch IAS officer, as the state’s new Chief Secretary, following the retirement of Alka Tiwari. The official notification issued today confirmed the transfer and posting of Kumar, who is widely regarded as one of the state’s most capable and dependable administrators.

Kumar, an accomplished B.Tech and M.Tech graduate, brings decades of administrative experience. Over his career, he has held several senior positions, including Additional Chief Secretary (Energy), Development Commissioner, Chief Resident Commissioner at Jharkhand Bhawan, and Chairman and Managing Director of Jharkhand Urja Vikas Nigam and Jharkhand Bijli Vitaran Nigam.

In his new role, Kumar will also continue to serve as Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister and Chief Resident Commissioner at Jharkhand Bhawan, ensuring continuity in key administrative functions. Known for his efficiency and problem-solving skills, he has played a pivotal role in policy implementation, energy sector reforms, and governance initiatives across the state.

With this appointment, Kumar steps into the top bureaucratic position in Jharkhand at a crucial time, expected to drive policy execution and coordinate development across departments.
