Historic Moment: Trump Addresses Israeli Parliament as Gaza Hostages Released
Tel Aviv: In a landmark moment, US President Donald Trump addressed the Israeli Parliament on Monday, calling the end of the Gaza conflict a “historic dawn of a new Middle East.” His visit coincided with the release of all remaining Israeli hostages held by Hamas, bringing relief after more than two years of tension and conflict.
“After two harrowing years in darkness and captivity, 20 courageous hostages are returning to their families,” Trump said, adding that the ceasefire marks not only the end of war, but the end of an age of terror, and the beginning of hope, faith, and peace. “Today, the skies are calm, the guns are silent, the sirens are still, and the sun rises on a Holy Land finally at peace—a land that, God willing, will live in peace for all eternity,” he declared.

Trump received a standing ovation as he approached the podium, though his speech saw brief disruption from a few protesters who were swiftly removed. “That was very efficient,” the President quipped.
The hostage release marks a significant milestone in the post-October 7, 2023 crisis. Earlier Monday, Hamas freed seven hostages, followed by the remaining 13 later in the day. According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the hostages are now being safely transferred to Israeli authorities before reuniting with their families.

The summit will bring together leaders from over 20 countries to discuss Gaza’s post-war reconstruction and governance, aiming to secure long-term stability in the region.
