Russian President Putin to Visit India on December 4–5 for Annual Summit

New Delhi: The Indian government has confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin will arrive in India on December 4–5 for a state visit and to attend the 23rd India–Russia Annual Summit. The trip comes at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Friday.

The Kremlin has likewise affirmed the schedule, stating that Putin will travel to New Delhi for the high-level summit as well as one-on-one talks with PM Modi aimed at deepening strategic cooperation.

In an official statement, the MEA said: “At the invitation of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, President of the Russian Federation H.E. Mr. Vladimir Putin will pay a State Visit to India from 4–5 December 2025 for the 23rd India–Russia Annual Summit.”

During the two-day engagement, President Putin and Prime Minister Modi are expected to review the full range of bilateral ties—from defence cooperation and energy partnerships to trade, technology, space collaboration, and connectivity initiatives. President Droupadi Murmu will also formally receive Putin and host a ceremonial banquet in his honour at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Officials familiar with the preparations said both leaders will use the summit to assess ongoing joint projects, explore new areas of collaboration, and outline the future course for the “Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership” that has long defined India–Russia relations. They will also exchange views on key regional and global issues, including security in Eurasia, developments in Ukraine, and the evolving Indo-Pacific strategic landscape.
